Hello all! I hope that you have had a happy and restful weekend. I just wanted to give everyone a quick run-down for the week ahead.
We’ll be continuing on with our vocab unit and will be starting unit 6 this week. Since it’s our first regular length week in a while, we’ll go back to doing a single section of homework every night and then there will be a quiz on Friday.
****Don’t forget that your alternate vocab quiz assignment (where you have to write five sentences and draw five pictures) is due Monday!!
We’ll also continue on with our grammar lessons and will be going back to using mentor sentences. This week we’re going to be looking at how to punctuate a clause with a subordinating conjunction at the beginning of a sentences, vs at the end.
Monday we’ll be introducing vocab, looking at a mentor sentence and then going to the library to start doing some research. You will be assigned a group and a topic on Monday.
Tuesday we’ll check our homework for vocab, continue to work with our mentor sentences and go back to the library to finish up our research and so you can put the finishing touches on your PowerPoint presentations.
Wednesday, after checking homework and having each of you write your own mentor sentences, our groups will start presenting their research.
Thursday, once our homework has been checked and our sentences have been shared, we’ll see any presentations that we didn’t get to see on Wednesday. We’ll also define a new literary term: “allegory” and we’ll talk about how allegory and all of our presentations apply to Animal Farm.
Friday you will have a Grammar Quiz and a Vocab Quiz. Make sure you study and do your homework in order to ensure that you get the best grade possible. We’ll also begin reading chapter 6 in Animal Farm and talk a little about the paper that you’ll be writing in the upcoming weeks.
I think this will be a great week and I look forward to seeing everyone!
